a full suspension or a long travel hardtail.full suspension harder to pedal but a bit more comfortable hardtails are the exact opposite

  • I would say a decent full sus is no harder to pedal

Depends on what FS. I'll wager my Top Fuel is a hell of a lot easier to pedal than most LT hardtails...

    Depends on the trail.

I have both and love to ride both on exactly the same trails and certainly a well tuned FS wont be any harder to pedal than a hardtail.
I have found the hardtail has helped me focus more on my line choice which then seems to carry over into my FS rding making me generally smoother and quicker.

How much travel are you talking about in each of your examples?
You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.

    Both.
I have a Giant Trance X 120mm travel full sus & a On-One Summer Season hardtail with 160mm forks. Both are great fun to ride but if I had to sell one then the Trance would have to go.

it all depends on the Trail.
