UpGrade Advice sought! XM117's to ???? HELP

Hi,
I'm looking to upgrade the stock Mavic XM117's that came on my Giant Trance X3, The front is a 15 mm thru axle and rear std q/r.
I don't honestly know where the 117's are in the pecking order of Mavic rims so haven't a clue what to upgrade to, to get a decent jump in performance gains!
Ideally i'd like to lose some rotating weight so alighter wheelset is needed, My riding is just Trails etc ( Sherwood pines for example) , No nasty jumps and downhilling ( too old for that LOL).
Like the look of the American Classics and that sort of thing, See a lot of Stans rims and hope hub combo's getting good reviews but would like to hear from Real people who actually have them if possible.
