Hi,

I was wondering if I could use a Dura Ace front mech with the remaining group set parts being SRAM?

I have a Red set minus the front mech and wanted to know if it would work with the DA mech?

Thanks in advance,

Gavin

I'm using dura ace 7900 front mech with an SRAM red BB30 compact chainset and it works fine. Using DA shifters with it though!

In theory it'll work -- SRAM and Shimano road groupsets use the same shift ratio on the front derailleur, but different ones on the rear. I've not tried it, though.

If its down to funding, then just buy any SRAM mech from in the range - I think they should all work, sell your D/A one to recoup outlay.

Seconded - get a Rival front mech for now, keep your eyes open for a SRAM Red if you want the titanium/carbon bits. otherwise function is identical.
