I am building up for my son (weight 50kg) some track wheels onto 88mm carbon rims, however i am struggling for affordable rear hub options at the moment.
The rim options for the rear are 32,24 and 20 spoke holes, would be very greatful of any advice please:
Is it sensible to build up a 88mm rim with 32 spokes? if so what lacing? (1x, 2x, radial etc..) I'm erring away from this as it just doesnt feel right

Does anybody know where to go for a cheapish (>£60) rear hub in 24 or 20 hole options? Ideally in stock

cheers
Jim

Given the depth of rim, shortness of spokes and weight of rider, then 20 or 24 spoke hubs should be fine. Can't help you with a supplier though - Planet-X sold-out.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

Most hubs seem to be for 32 holes... I wonder if you can save the same amount of weight by going for 32 light spokes instead of 24 stronger ones... DT Revolution or even lighter, if you find them... track spokes live a reasonably quiet life, after all...

  • Try Goldtec hubs. They can probably do them in any drilling you require. Similarly Royce would do the same.
Recipe: shave legs sparingly, rub in embrocation and drizzle with freshly squeezed baby oil.

Try Alf at the Bike Inn/Webbline - he sells some nice track hubs http://www.webbline.co.uk/default.asp?pID=18
