What Evans said to Schleck
Nothing too amazing, but interesting: http://www.theage.com.au/sport/cycling/what-evans-really-said-to-andy-schleck-20110811-1iott.html
''I didn't say much … Andy was asking to ride together … and [about] co-operating with them. After the day before, I wasn't going to be co-operative. I had no obligation to,'' Evans told The Age yesterday after arriving in Australia for his tour victory celebration parade in Melbourne today.
He can recall Schleck's words verbatim, but he won't repeat them, indicating they may be a tad unsavoury or best saved for another day.
''I can recall pretty much word for word and it's probably best that I don't repeat the words exactly … a little bit of colourful language,'' Evans said. ''But I have a lot of respect for … particularly Andy. He is someone I have always had a good relationship [with] even though we are competitors. He was in a difficult situation and needed help from me … I was in a situation where I wasn't obligated to do it, so I wasn't going to waste or compromise my race.''

he told matt rendell all that as he ran away from him into a lift in alpe d'huez. it was a proper honest interview if you could avoid being distracted by the comedy.0

I was glad when he shrugged it off because he had spent days battling especially the day he needed three bike changes and still got back on. The brothers needed time on him and it was like they didn't notice until the last few stages. If they honestly thought a minute was enough they were deluded. Andy needed to use his strengths in the mountains to put 3 mins into cadel but either didn't realise or simply couldn't do it as he didn't have it in him.
So when you saw Andy basically telling cadel he should be chasing on I was half swearing at the TV myself. Evans battled it out in the way that deserved the victory imo and I was happy that the lack of killer instinct or that Andy S simply had no more to give this year meant that it paid off for evans.0 -

Andy : "Can we work together on this hill? Especially after my Brother spent all day on your rear doing sweet fanny adams."
Cadel : "Someone is going to get a slap on the podium."+++++++++++++++++++++

Andy: "Can you help chase Contador"
Evans "What the fuck for I'm going to win the tour It's up to you to make a race of it from here "
Andy "huh don't understand"
Evans "That's why you wont win again"0 -

I liked it in the interview with the age in the first post where they asked him what keeps him riding, and he said it was just the joy of being out on his bike and riding fast when he's felling good. It's nice that whether you're riding to work in the morning, or winning the TdF we all do it for pretty much the same reason.0
