I currently have ride on derailer cables and sram brake cables.
Is it ok if I just change the inner cables and keep the outer cables?

Will the cables be compatible with other brands of inner cables such as yokozuna?

thanks

in general, yes, if outers are in good condition it's ok to re-use - just check the diameter of the new cable is not larger than the original

the ptfe coating on ride-on cables tends to come loose and can accumulate inside the outers causing friction

i'd flush them with some cleaner to remove any grease/crud etc. inside, then see if a new cable runs free and smooth
my bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny

The coating on those gore ride on cables came off like there is no tomorrow.

Not to mention the coating is attracting tones of dirt while riding.

Since you mentioned that, I am going to just change the housing as well because I don't know if I would be able to clean them properly.

    thanks.
