Maxxis Ikon vs Kenda Small Block 8. Anyone tried both?

I've been a big fan of the Kenda SB8 for dry trails. It's hard to beat except when its damp and lose, and slips on damp roots. I wondered if anyone had tried both and whether the Ikon was just as fast and grippy as the SB8, but better on damp roots because of its more open tread. At £45 a pop I want to make sure the Maxxis is worth a punt.
