How to degrease, clean and lube a bike chain and components

I was wondering which of these two guides is better to follow to clean my bike chain etc.?

Bike radar is a good link, really its a very easy job that you dont need to do TOO often, so really you will develop your own way for doing things with different products.
Personally I do it less thoroughly but very often to maintain the groupset.0 -

just use kerosene, it will make the worst chain and cassette clean and sparkle. Wipe the excess off and let the rest evaporate off for a few minutes while you tender to other parts of the bike.
Then lube up as usual but not over doing it. Turn the cranks a few times to work the product into the links and then wipe off the side plates to remove any excess.0
