I am going back to Tubulars and looking forward to it. Thing is you can pay up to70 quid each. 2 on the bike and 1 spare 210 quid is a heck of a lot of money. Anyone recommend better priced tubs with equal or better performance to Michelin Pro 2/3 ?

Had Vittorias as a clincher but don't rate them at all, dunno what the tubs are like.

Cheers

  • Vittoria corsa evo cx 320tpi - you won't regret it.

    Veloflex also worth a punt.

Depends what you want to use them for but Conti Sprinters are a decent do it all tub for reasonable money.

+1 for Corsa CX Evos (but you will regret when you puncture. Fantastic tyres, lovely ride quality and awesome grip in the wet, but the tread compound is soft and despite the puncture protection, they're not that robust - but hey, they're a racing tyre. I'd recommend using them for special ocassions on good roads, unless you've got deep pockets!)

Corsas are lovely tyres, but high wear rate as mentioned. Conti Sprinters are pretty good and can be had for about £35 ea..

Conti Sprinters = hosepipes in comparison to Vittoria or Veloflex IMO. You can also find some good deals on Challenge - not quite as supple as the Vittoria / Veloflex but a bit cheaper.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

If you want the ride quality of the Pro 3's you're used to then Vittorias or Veloflex are probably the best places to look.

Vittoria CXII is great until it rains when they're lethal (or there's anything that might puncture them).

I'm told that Veloflex tubs are pretty good in the wet as well so I'd have a look at them (unfortunately I haven't seen Veloflex tubs cheaply anywhere in the UK).

For training the conti giros are great, not supple and comfortable, but you can get 2 for 10 quid and there honestly bulletproof, had mine for over a year.
