ive got shimano deore m590 rapidfire sl at the moment not keen on the little window with red arrow so going to change what would be a better option

You can also get XTR which has no window, fully adjustable positioing, and duel release.0

XTR is a waste of money IMO unless you're a racer or just have money to burn0

I agree that a lot of the XTR gear is silly money if buying yourself but the shifters are simply the best I've ever used. I've had a set for a few years and they still feel like new. They are also 10x better then the XT shifters they replaced.0

Wouldn't hesitate to recommend XT shifters the difference between Deore and XT is like night and day. Fit some SP41 cables & ferrules while you're at it.
If you look carefully on Chain Reaction you will see that the RH shifter is priced individually at £35 and the LH shifter is £25 or you can buy them both for £70
