probably a stupid bottom bracket question

I have a planet x carbon and want to sell the compact FSA Gossamer chainset and fit a standard (prob ultegra) chainset. The bottom bracket is a mega exo bottom bracket and is the external bearing type (looks like the shimano ones). Do I need to change it or can I put an ultegra chainset straight on it?

I would change it as FSA do different BB cups for certain cranksets. while shimano just use one design,

the shimano will "fit" but....

You can use a BB from a FSA Gossamer with Shimano chain-sets. I have done it both ways round with no trouble. The FSA BB sealing is not so good though so be prepared to change it soon.
