This is a good video to spark up the helmet debate again!

I wear a helmet anyway, but the line which got me was "All my friends say I've changed - I'm not James Cracknell any more" Rather puts brain injury into focus.

I'm usually a bit meh at these kind of videos. But I actually thought that was quite powerful.

I wear a helmet as well but if I didn't (because I just hadn't thought about it and not because I was vehmently opposed to wearing one) it would have given me some food for thought.

I watched his show the other week when this happened. The carnage left of the road with bandages, cut clothing etc... and loads of blood everywhere was pretty scary. Good to see him back riding endurance again though. He is one amazing athlete.
  • What a waste.

He should use his platform to campaign against drivers passing too close to cyclists, the real message of his incident.

Cyclists should stop joining in with the motoring lobby in allowing our mode of transport to be labelled dangerous requiring specialist safety equipment to render it acceptable.

We need a cyclists version of the ‘Slut Walk’. To paraphrase the slut walkers “I’m tired of being oppressed by helmet moral blackmail; of being judged for not wearing one and told I’m negligent as a result.”
