10 Speed Cassette & 9 Speed Shifters ?
Can anybody tell me if it's possible to use a 10 speed (105) cassette with 9 speed (105) shifters ? Obviously if it does I'd only be able to use 9 gears.
I want to temporarily swap the wheels between 2 bikes whilst the back wheel from one bike (the 9 speed) is having a new hub fitted. I don't know if the spacing between the sprockets is the same or if the shifters pull a different amount of cable.
I can't just try it as the 9 speed bike is 150 miles away at the moment. I'm reluctant to take the entire10 speed bike as it's fairly valuable and it'll be left in a shared house with very little security.

No, it will not work. The cogs on the 10-speed cassette are placed closer to each other, so the RD will overshift.0

look on sheldon browns. it may or may not work but for such little difference you may be able to route the cable differently round the mech bolt to alter the pull slightly. otherwise as above said.0

Thanks everyone, I thought that may be the case.0
