I've got X2s on all of my mountain bikes. I think that says enough :D

If you want a good set of long lasting reasonably powerful and light weight brakes that are made in the UK with great customer service you'd be hard pushed to find any better.

The pad fitting is really easy too.

The only thing I would say is that the leavers are a bit chunky so can interfere with cockpit placement.

XT M785. The best of the very best.
£99 quid that you won't regret spending.

I agree with tofu i only run hope, made in uk, look the nuts and the best after sales service i have found.
had to send my rear back after totally destroying it in a crash, pulled the lever and all the internals out of the housing.
They had it fixed and back to me within a week and i did'nt even get charged for the work.
    Top top service.

Thing with hopes is they're expensive. aren't light, aren't the best performing and arent the prettiest.

Same goes for the majority of hope stuff tbh.

Dear gods no, they really are gash.

My elixir R's have a better feel to them than my XT's did... and because the reservoir is smaller, they're easier to get into a nice position without fowling on the gear shifter.

Even though I really did like my xt's and had a big hate for avids at one point, I wouldn't even think about swapping my elixirs for XT's.

^^ THOSE are not elixirs. Those, are gash.
How the frigging frigg did the reservoir get in the way of positioning the brake lever?
Also, are you aware that the 785 are different to the old XTs?

Then you wouldn't know any better, would you?

Avids are pants and the after sales is terrible too.

I road the SLX brakes for a couple days and was fairly impressed with them.

Don't know how they hol up over time or what the after sales I like.

So... that's apart from when you haven't?

Oh yeah, Elixirs for sale for dirt cheap - still an image of a juicy 3 though. Nasty, nasty, useless, overheaty, crappy, ineffective brakes.

and mine, Juicys, the spawn of the devil. Except my hate still remains because of how many people have problems with Avids, including Elixirs
  • Not had any problems with mine yet... touch wood.

Very impressed considering i'm 16.5st and only have 160mm rotors front and rear!

ok then to sum up after going off track a little x2's or M4's? not bothered about the weight really im no racer and am not doing 100000 miles a week. just want good power, durable and as little maintainance as poss. ive had jucys before and wasnt that fussed, old xt's were good but noisey most of the time and hayes rydes atm and have had better from cantis tbh

I do have green tyres. It's amazing how mongs think I'm somehow inferior to them because I have a set of green tyres.

I like hope stuff too. I've still got a corking Bulb hub, and a ProII front. Even have a fully functioning ancient set of C2s, so old, that they weren't even called C2s back then.
But, I do not have a blind pointless devotion to them, or anything else.
I do not worship Hope, or make offers at their altar.
