Looking for a new computer for my bike.
Needs to be wireless, reliable, include cadence and preferably cost less than £60!
Any recommendations?
TIA :)

Cateye Strada gets good reviews - Ribble do them at a good price.

yeah that's the obvious choice (and generally for good reason) but wondering if anything else out there? I'd be willing to up the budget a bit but want something that I can rely on. Don't need to go to the extent of a Garmin - it would really cut into my new bike budget too and I'm trying to max that as much as possible.

+1 for the Cateye Strada Wireless. Costs about £36 from Ribble

Recently bought one to replace an ageing and temperamental computer bought from Aldi a couple of years ago.

The Cateye was easy to fit, compact and has a very positive click action to cycle through the functions. The Strada Wireless doen't have a cadence function but in my opinion, cadence is a bit redundant for most "hobby" cyclists.

To get wireless cadence you need to up your budget to nearer the £80 mark. So ye pays yer money and takes yer choice. Extra £40 just for cadence!!! - no thanks

I'm using a Boardman 22 which includes cadence and is on offer at £49.99 from halfords at the moment

Had it about 3 months and it has worked fine

I've got the Sigma BC 1609 STS with cadence. It has a really nice clear screen and works great. Can be bought for < £50. It has separate sensors for speed and cadence so the speed sensor can go on the front wheel where it is more accurate (rear wheels skid a bit). I've recently moved the cadence sensor under the chain stay to get extra clearance and used a small disc magnet from Staples in the pedal spindle hole. Looks much neater than a magnet cable tied to the crank arm.

    Here's an installation video:

The Sigma looks good and is one that I'm considering. Boardman looks good value too (I get 15% discount with my GB Cycling membership) but my mate has one and has had several problems with it - hope yours is fine mate

A word of warning. If buying a cadence/ speedo combo, check it fits first! I have just upgraded my wheelset and now my Cat Double Wireless doesn't fit. I love it and am right pi88ed off! Been looking at the Sigma mentioned (1609) as it has 2 sensors it'll cure fitting prob. FYI my problem lies with a Cube Aerial and RS80 wheelset.
  • Out of interest how did you get the cadence sensor to fit on the cube Aerial?
I've tried the Cat Eye, Wahoo and Garmin and none of them give enough clearance to allow the wheel to spin properly.

Any guidance would be gratefully recieved.
  • The specialized wireless does cadence and you can get it for around £50

I've always found cat-eyes to be very reliable. I'd go for the strada.

  • I've just picked up a new Garmin Edge 200 on eBay from a GB bike shop for £70.

May be worth keeping an eye on there
