maximum cassette size with a triple chainset

Hi
can I use a 11-28 Shimano 105 cassette with a Shimano triple chainset? Might be overkill on the low gearing, but I am trying to use some parts I have lying around.

    its a shimano 105 medium cage

    if the front is 50-xx-30 that's 20, then 11-28 is 17, so 37t capacity

    which model 105?

    5700 medium is up to 30t largest sprocket, capacity is 39t - so ok with 11-28

    55xx/56xx mediums are up to 27t largest sprocket, capacity is 37t - you'll probably get away with 28, but shimano doesn't recommend it
