A cheery hello...& a Campag question!
Hi all,
First post, and newbie questions already
I'm putting together my first road/training bike, based around a Kinesis Racelight T2 frame with the best "bang-for-buck" used Campagnolo groupset components I can afford - which isn't much according to the Wife. I've been lucky enough to be given a virtually unused Chorus BB and Chorus 10 speed Ultra Drive 53/39. I've even managed to score a great conditioned Chorus 10 speed QS front mech for peanuts on the 'Bay.
From here it seems that things get a little more complicated though, as the next purchase will be Ergolevers and rear mech. From my (little) understanding, all 10 speed components are compatible, but to get best performance I should make sure it's all Quick Shift spec, but even within QS there are models/years I should avoid. I've got no problem using Veloce/Centaur parts, but just don't want to end up compromising the performance of my build for the sake of a few quid, or through my lack of knowledge :?
Any pointers as to what I should be looking for, or avoiding, would be most appreciated as I think mistakes from this point could get a bit costly....
Thanks in advance,
Oxo

Assuming you're sticking with 10 speed, then avoid the earlier QS Ergos i.e. mirage, Veloce orCentaur as they have a different internal mechanism. Otherwise go for any 10 speed Chorus or Record or pre-QS in the others or any of the Ultrashift ones.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

Cracking, thanks for the quick response and advice.
Yep, planning on sticking with 10 speed. From what you say then I guess it would make sense to take my time and carry on searching out bargains in Chorus 10 QS series kit.
Cheers

Any one know where 12-24 Campag compatible freewheels are available now. Struggling to find any on the internet or at local bikeshops in Devon. Perhaps it's time for a new wheel.0

Seems like an unusual ratio, are you sure sure its 24? Also, is it 9, 10, 11 speed?0
