Does anyone know of any shops who will hire out road bikes around my area?

It's 23 years since I've ridden a road style bike so I'm not even 100% sure that it's going to work for me, so I don't really want to go to my LBS first because it's a reasonably small shop and I don't want to feel obliged to buy something if I don't feel it's right for me and I know I will if I go to them first.

I just want to go for a decent length ride on a road bike to see how it feels and be able to hand the bike over at the end of the day and make my mind up, then I can go to the LBS and have something to compare their bikes to from what I like or dislike about the hire bike, if you see what I mean.

    Tyne & Wear.

Nice place, shame aboot the beer :P

Try M Steel Cycles in Gosforth, you might not be able to hire one but I'm sure they would let you try one out or know of someone locally who might be able to help.

Usually quite good at responding to emails.
  • Just rang them and they do hire them out but the lad said they're selling the bikes at the end of the month so if anyone wants a half price bike which he says they're all around the £2300 mark, then sounds like they're the people to talk to. Alas the bikes aren't available because of this..

I then called Newcastle Cycle Centre who put me on to Saddle Skedaddle who are going to call me back in 5 mins...
