Can Shimano freehubs be cleaned/lubed internally without the end result sounding like a gritty mess? Am I right in thinking that you can't get inside the freehub? What is the best mehtod to do the job properly? Questions, questions!

remove the freehub, carefully prise out the rubbery seal from the back, and you'll be able to see the tiny ball bearings inside. I just flush the innards with copious quantities of gearbox oil until no more crap is washed out of the other end. Some people reccommend flushing with degreaser, but I'm never confident you'll get it all out of there before lubricating.
