Hello,

My bottom bracket has gone on my racer and i am very uncertain on what bottom bracket i am required to order as there are so many types. Is it sized to frame or specific to cranks, if i need to post up pictures i am more than happy too. can any one shed some light?

Many thanks

Warren

bit short on detail - but you do mention SRAM Red cranks in your title, so your BB is probably a SRAM GXP...

    which make/model of bike?

as above, gxp is likely, but could also be bb30

If you have SRAM cranks then you will need a GXP bottom bracket.

If your frame is Italian e,g Colnago, Pinarello etc you will need an Italian thread.

If your frame isn't then you will need an English thread, most frames are English thread.

Of course you might run BB30.

If you tell us what frame you have then we can point you in the right direction :)

hello, I have very little information my self on the bike. It was custom built before I brought it and it has an unbranded carbon fibre frame. May help..... The ends of the bottom bracket look gold? Does that help. I think a picture may help alot. As I have no real clue on the bikes spec.

    Thanks for the replys

I would take a guess your frame is English thread, most frame are.

Something like this would work if indeed your frame is English thread.

Does that look similar to what you have now?

You also might want to just check its not also a BB86... sram do a BB to fit that.

Some of the unbranded also do BB86.

BTW if you DO need a GXP BB, go checl out the prices at Ribble, that is where I am getting mine.

Right i checked it out and found superstar components written on the side. So i assume its this:

So if i require a new bottom bracket, which would you guys recommend to get, the SRAM one?

Huge thanks for the replys! I am getting a lot of drag off the bottom bracket and cant wait to get back doing some miles.

Just buy a standard GXP bottom bracket. (That's what Sram uses). All of about £26

    +1

or you can get a Hope BB and run the GXP spacers

or a Chris King with ditto

but for value the std GXP BBs are fine
