Passed a big milestone this morning. Since I hauled my sorry ass out of the car for the first time on "Earth Day" 2009, a little over two years ago, I have covered 10,000 miles by bike. Gave me a massive grin this morning, I can tell you.

Hang about. Is that your speedo showing 21.1 mph average, over 10000 miles?
Sometimes parts break. Sometimes you crash. Sometimes it’s your fault.

Isn't that 21mph current speed? So you actually took that shot whilst whisking along at 21? Sounds scary! You could've stopped!

  • It was the current speed.

I tried one stopped, but it looked too static, so I did that one going at a slowish speed to get some motion blur.

i like the fact that you consider 21 mph - slowish. 8)
None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.

Did you also take it with a Lomo LC-A?

Lubitel 166, I'll have you know. It's not easy focusing a TLR at that speed, but worth it for the effect.

Either that or I used Snapbucket on my phone for the effect.

You seriously took a photo at 21mph with a Lubitel TLR? OMG...

If you can't tell the difference, does that mean that camera phones and a bit of effects software have overtaken dedicated camera?

I also own a Lubitel 166, but would not attempt to use it on a moving bicycle, never mind at that speed. Chapeau, good sir.

I used to have a Lubitel TLR. Flogged in on Ebay about 10 years ago. Kinda wish I still had it.

I really miss my Mamiya 645, it suffered the same fate. Had the gorgeous 80mm macro lens with it. Probably as well I sold it before the market really dropped out of them. Digital still doesn't grip me like a good film camera did, the convenience is great, though.

None of you photo tarts answered my previous question. Was it too difficult to admit that a camera phone and effects software are now better than your expensive hardware?

I didn't respond as i didn't think you were serious.

Short answer - not even close. I use my phone, a compact digital and a DSLR. When I look at the shots on screen I can easilly tell which is which. You do get what you pay for.
That said, a competant photographer with a cheapo will get better results than a numpty with expensive gear. The most important part of the camera is about 4" behind the viewfinder

So what was the picture of the 10,000 mile mark taken with? A camera phone and good effects software, or some expensive camera that I have never of?

    Aha! Thanks Asprilla.
Couldn't do the picture thing at work but it works from home. I think this may be because I have to use IE6 at work and it's all a bit rubbish.
