Chain stay damage

I'm looking at buying a second hand full sus bike that has impact damage to one of the chain stays. Should I avoid or would it still be structurally sound?

Impact from chain, probably ok.
Impact from small asteroid, probably best to avoid.

Also depends what frame. If replacement chainstays are readily available and the rest of the frame is sound, i would get it.
