fit a double front chain ring with a rear hub gear such as an Alfine 11 speed or a Rohloff 14 speed, thus doubling the gear ratios or alternatively two sprockets on the rear hub gear and one front chain ring just like a Bromtpon? Chain could be tensioned using the Brompton tensioner system. Just a few thoughts kicking around the old brain.

    Those hubs have a massive range as it is. I can't think of any reason why you'd need more.
