I'm fairly new to cycling (about a year now) and looking for a new challenge. Has anyone done or has considered doing the coast 2 coast ride with the british heart foundation? Looks really good, though I will have to find a partner which shouldn't prove too difficult. Would people recommend this challenge? 138 miles in 2 days, I've done nearly 100 in one so I reckon I could do it.

You'll probably have better luck in the sportive section - as it's not a race.

Never done it myself, so no experience.

funnily enough, I've just completed it with work - not bhf

it's a great ride, as long as you pace yourself you'll be fine - we stayed overnight in alston so if you do the same bear in mind that Hartside is a tough climb to do at the end of the day

I did it on my road bike and it was ok but some of the cycle route isn't tarmaced so be prepared for some cinder track

As mentioned it's more of a charity ride than a race.

Also to some the distance is do-able in a day (especially on this section :) ) but anyhow andy good luck!
  • Thanks Ed, I do plan to stay over yeah, just need to book it, I'm using a road bike too :)
