Been scowring the web for some Shimano 105 kit for my Boardman and noticed the 105 shifters on Ribble for £130 (about 50% off).

How much of an upgrade would these be over the stock Tiagra shifters that came as standard???

Is it a worthwhile upgrade???

It's not just for perforamce (although this is the main factor), I'm after the black shifters as I'm after the 'stealth' look!

In a related question is it worth going beyond Ultegra to Dura Ace?

Lots of people say no, I say yes. But its purely personal - nothing actually wrong with Ultegra, but its not Dura Ace.

But that's just my personal opinion, others will differ.

In answer to the original poster's question: the new 105 shifters put the cables under the bar tape so look more pleasing than Tiagra.

However I don't know if I'd go for that upgrade ahead of some newer, lighter wheels. If you had Sora shifters I would go for the upgrade though.
