Headset Spacers

Am I correct in thinking that 25mm is the max spacer stack you should have? 1 1/8" forks, carbon steerer and integrated headset.

Also, I'm sure I've seen comments that there's some value in having a spacer above the stem with full carbon forks, so the stem doesn't clamp on the very end of the steerer tube

thanks

Steve
cheers

I think you're correct on both points, but for a definitive answer you should consult the manufacturer of said carbon steerer fork

The fewer spacers the better in terms of strength and safety. I think in terms of 30mm being the max height of spacers. A more sticky-up stem is one workaround.

The top of the steerer tube is a potential weak point, hence the decision by some to use a top spacer. I don't, buy I did smooth the interior of my aluminium stem somewhat. Do not over-torque and use carbon paste when connecting stem.
