A few months back someone asked about a solution for their spouse who lost both her arms above the elbow. Just read about this today. http://www.mertlawwill.com/index.php?op ... Itemid=104 Not a complete solution in all cases (the braking and shifting still need to be worked out) but hopefully would be helpful for some people out there. I didn't see any info on the site yet but in an interview with Mr Lawwill he says he is also developing an artificial elbow that would benefit cyclists.

Mert Lawwill also pioneered mountain bicycle suspension too. Googling him revealed he was buddies with Steve McQueen, whose other motorbike buddy was Bud Ekins - I once spent a very enjoyable afternoon with Bud at a BBQ at local friend's farm - didn't need 6-degrees of separation to get that to work!
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
