Rear deraileur - Lower pulley
I have a Specialized Elite with Shimano Tiagra groupset
Cassette - Shimano HG-50, 9-speed, 12-25t
Chainrings - 50 x 34T.
The pic below shows the gear on the smallest front and rear chain ring. The lower pulley appears really tucked in when I compared it with a mate who has similar gears. It seems to run fine but is it in the correct position?
Any help is appreciated, thanks

Smallest cog at front and rear is going to do that, you are 'crossing the chain'. The rear derailleur is taking up all the slack. Small front and back is not a 'normal' combination so it would be rare for it to be like this. If the chain was too long the derailleur would go so far back that the chain would be rubbing against the top jockey.0

Thanks for the reply. Is it going to cause any damage/problems?
I have been riding in that combo for a few miles as it is a comfortable combo for general cruisng.0 -

Yeah that chain is fine, however try not to cross it to the extremes like that- 2nd smallest and vice versa for the big ring is a good rule to stick to.0 -
That picture kind of says that you chain is probably the right length. Your friend's chain may be on the short side.0
