V Brakes

OK, so I'm upgrading the braking system on my old Zaskar and I'm going to get myself some V brakes (for all sorts of reasons). What would anyone recommend?
I'm leaning towards a set of XT M770 from ebay (think a complete set is sub 60 quid) but not entirely sure. Also slightly confused as the last time I looked at top end V brakes they were parallel push (admitedly that was quite a few years ago now!) and the cheaper ones were more traditional canti. style. Did parallel push die a death?
Cheers,
P.

The only ones i specifically remember being "parallell push" were XTRs, and it appears they still are.
Avid single digits were always considered to be great stoppers, and they're also dead cheap to boot.
Oh, by th eway, love the Coleman avatar0 -
I think parallel push links can introduce too much (albeit tiny) play that then causes dreadful squeel. Had that on my XT v brakes which I swapped for XTR (also parallel push) which fixed it. I am presuming this may be why it may have been dropped on some models, but as far as I can tell it is alive and well on XTR.0

At least I'm not going entirely mad then. I'll have a look at single digits then, cheers. Mind you, any V's got to be better than the Onzo HOs I have on at the moment
And yeah - coleman is the secret power behind mint0 -

That's not a bad price, although found one seller on eBay selling F+R for £30 (albeit with £7 postage) and another selling F+R+levers for £65 + £15 postage. Not sure about import tax though (been hit by that once or twice before, although not on bike bits).0 -
Coleman is also the secret power behing F*5. but Ssssssssshhh0
