minus two links?

Hello, i broke my chain the other day. Fortunately my mate had a chain extractor thinggy with him and knew how to use it. he had to remove 2 links and job done. My question is can I safely carry on using this chain 2 links shorter? what is the difference now? will it affect anything else on the bike? on the riding? the chain itself is fairly recent.

depending on how the chain was sized in the first place. you may find that you can not use the big and big ring/cog and the shifter feels very stiff trying to get into that combo ubtil the rear mech get ripped off. ( not that you should be using that combo).
