Bottle cage fixings - aarrrggghhhh help

Please tell me I haven't screwed up my carbon frame.
While reattaching one of the bottle cage fixings, I managed to cross thread it.
I made matters still worse by pulling at it, and accidentally pulled the whole fixing from the carbon frame.
As this has happened either side of a cage I've basically just pushed it all back in.
Now unsurprisingly it's somewhat noisy and rattles.
What can I do, is it a simple fix?

The are usually just aluminium Avdel inserts, easily replaced with the correct tool provided you haven't managed to enlarge the hole in the carbon fibre.0

Hmmmmm......
I did this to a (new at time) S-Works Roubaix. Specialized sorted it out for me FoC at their place in Chessington. Very good service hence the mention.
If the manufacturer can't help, the safest workable fix is probably one of these: http://www.zefal.com/zefal/produit.php?key=000108
Could be a good temporary option whilst you sort out a lasting repair also.0 -
DIY solution,
remove the cross threaded screw from the fitting
fit the screw from the other side to tap out the internal thread
check it now screws in ok from the front
Araldite the fitting back into the frame ( the frame is mostly epoxy anyway )
job done, be more careful next timeHe is not the messiah, he is a very naughty boy !!0 -
Don't worry - its not a biggie.
Rivnut as per posts passim - 2 minute job. Do a quick search on this here forum, result should pop up dated within the past month or so.
Decent LBS will do it for you if you don't have the tools/confidence.

Yes ... beware, threaded bottle inserts in carbon frames can be ever so slightly misaligned.0
