Help and advice needed

Hi all,
I am usually on the road forum but am in need of some advice on my MTB. I only started cycling last year and have a permenant loan Marin Alpine Trail, which has served me very well but is now in need of some TLC.
The drive train is worn and I am looking to replace the cassette, chain and two of the front rings. It currently has an IG51 chain, M737 8spd cassette and IG front rings,
these components seem to be obselete can you please advise / recommend what can be mixed to get it running, for example I have found a HG50-I 8 cassette which is for IG narrow chains, is the IG70 the same as IG51

Sorry for the wittering but would like to get the right parts first time

    Sounds like a good time to go 9 speed to me. Especially as with 10 speed here the 9 speed stuff is super cheap just now.

    edit - Don't know if you've checked them but are the rear mech's jockey wheels not also needing replaced ?

    any 8spd chain will work.
