Anyone swap chains out to match a specific cassette?

After rebuilding my bike last week (including a new chain) and going straight out to race on it (on my race wheels with an 'older' cassette) I found I was unable to find a gear for most of the race. And the chain basically would slip any time I got out of the saddle.

I'm used to changing chains - and haven't had a problem with older cassettes before. But - maybe this particular cassette had just reached the end of it's life - no problem...bought a new one.

So - I've got a new chain and a new-ish cassette on my training wheels - working fine. But I've also bought a brand new chain that I plan to swap in and out every time I use my race wheels (so that chain wears at the same rate as the race cassette). It's easy to do the swap so no biggie.

Long-winded post to ask - does anyone else do this?

Fitted new chain on thursday and it was fine with the newish cassete on my eurus wheels. I then quickly just tried it on my mavic cosmics with a slightly older cassete and it was jumping a little. A slight adjustment and i mean slight solved the problem.

To be fair ive given up over the years trying to get the wear even.
Jumping and skipping can be a pain sometimes if your swapping wheels regulary.

I use sram chains, given up on campag ones.
