Removing spacers

Which bolts do I undo first. Stem bolts or top cap nut? And do I re-tighten in reverse order? Need to ditch one of the spacers, its like sitting in an armchair.

    removing it does not really matter.

    you can not just remove a spacer you will have to put on top of the stem.

    refitting adjust the top bolt to set the bearing preload and then clamp the stem up.

    To remove the stem it does not matter which you undo first. When refitting make sure you put the old spacer above the stem (or cut the steerer if really sure). Then follow instructions above.

    I was just gonna stick the spacer on top as I'm a complete bafoon when it comes to bike maintainance and wouldn't even attempt to cut the steerer.
