Hi, I have a route to work saved to the device as a 'Course' but each time i make the ride the Virtual partner times me against the very first time i rode the course. How do i update the system so that i can ride against the best time that I have riden the course?
Please can you be quite explicit in any answers that you are kind enough to leave as i find it difficult to find my way around the Edge 800. Many thanks.

    You set the time yourself.

If you average 18mph on a ride and do it again you can set it at 18mph and try to keep in front of the virtual rider, if you then improve you can increase the speed setting to suit.

Therefore you can set the speed to your best average and see if you can beat it.

This has been asked before i think, what you have to do is, if you improve your time on a course, then to have the VP automatically ride at this new speed , you will have to save the file from that ride as a course, the VP will only ride at the speed of the specific ride that you created the course from, though you can alter the VP speed on a course by pressing the +/- buttons at the top of the VP page, on a course it is in % not mph as it is on a ride.

Many thanks. Can you tell me how to save a previous ride as a course on the Edge 800 as i haven't been able to do it. Many thanks.
PS. I see you are from Kettering. I work at Weetabix.

Yep its pretty easy, if the ride you want create a course from is still on the 800, go to menu>courses>create new course>from the list select which one you want>press green tick and rename new course if you want>press green tick and it should then appear as a new course in the courses folder, if your rides are on Training Centre just click on "file" on the toolbar and export the file as a gpx to the "new files" folder on the 800, then when you next power on the 800 it should appear in the courses folder, you can then edit it to change its name for example, all the other training software like SportTracks and Garmin Connect etc will let you export rides to the 800 to create courses as well, btw I luv the smell of Weetabix that wafts over town from time to time,I quite often pass the factory on rides through Burton.
