Internal BB - SRAM Red
Could anyone help me? I have a Trek Madone with SRAM Red which has the internal BB. I am constantly hearing a squeaking noise which appears to be coming from the chainset area when riding the bike and can only think it is one of two things: either the BB is going or I have some "lube issues" with the chain (I am using ceramic chain lube which I am not very impressed with).
Whilst I am totally familiar with fitting and viewing external BBs, I am totally in the dark about dismantling the internal type and am slightly concerned that if I take it to a LBS telling them I think the BB may be shot, they may simply confirm this to get the extra business out of me.
Can anyone offer any advice?
Thanks in advance.
Gavin

There's not a lot you can do with external BBs apart from make sure everything's clean, tight and lubed. There's no adjustment so apart from removing the crank, cleaning the surfaces, relubing, refitting and retightening that's about it. If there's any noticeable play in the cranks that can't be adjusted out, then bearings are worn. A common cause of squeaking is also dry jockey wheel bearings.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0
