Silly question but just checking. When setting up the Cateye for wheel size, I set it at 700c, which it says on the tyre.

Is that correct?

you're better off setting it to the exact tyre length as per the table in the instructions. more of a detailed setting as I understand it.

    From the cateye pdf:

    700x23C 210
    700x25C 211

you scroll through the options and set the number in bold depending on tyre size. There are lots of other settings available but I'm assuming you have one of these sizes!

I don't think that's right, because usually you have to account for the tyre size as well.

Not sure which model of computer you've got, but this is the manual for mine and has a table for these measurements with common tyre sizes. It also says how to measure it yourself, which is what I'd do to make sure it's right.

you can roll the wheel on the ground and measure its travel the way you have it set up. even when on the bike, takes account of all the variables. you can measure several rotations to divide the error down.

With the cateye computer, use a size smaller than your tyre. Ie: if you have a 700x23 use the number for a 700x20(207). as you will see from the post re sizes above you will see that between the 2 nos given there is only a 2% difference. I have always put the no from the chart -1 size in and have found on a measured time trial course it is better than 99% accurate. This is much more accurate than your car will ever be.
