And not even thanked for it
Spotted a couple of bikes, I'd say about £400 each so £800 in total. Locked together, cable through both front wheels  into bike fixing.
Decided to wait until they came back, informed them not a safe method could easily be stolen and just have two wheels and a lock. Not really thankful.
oh well.

Well done for helping someone who didn't know better / hadn't thought things through.
People generally won't be grateful for having their foolishness pointed out to them. The better person will at least afterwards work out that a) you were trying to help and b) you made a good point, and so will benefit from your advice.
Basically, if you're going to go round giving unrequested advice to people, be prepared for ingratitude - it doesn't however mean that it's useless to do so, and if it denies one scumbag thief an easy steal at some point in the future, it's probably worth having done so !0 -
Some people these days really are in their own little world, and any interference from outside forces, whether good or bad, are completely unwanted.
If I had made that mistake, I would have been very grateful. We have just cheap bikes we use around town at my house, and save the good ones for out. My mrs left one of the cheap bikes locked through the front wheel, gave her a right bollocking about it!0
