Hi folks,
Quick question for the forum,
Buying my first road bike,
Most of the options looked at appear to come with 23c tyres as standard,
I feel I may benifit from 25c tyres, i.e. poor local road surfaces and my 95kg frame,
Question as follows,
Given there is enough clearance in the frame and brake callipers for 25c tyres
Can 25c tyres be fitted to the 23c rims that come with the bikes I have been looking at?
or
Would I have to buy new rims especially for 25c tyres?
Thanks in advance,
Garrett

They won't be "23c" rims anyhow, they'll be designed to take a range of tyre sizes (probably up to 28mm)

Yes, the rims is probably either 622-13 or 622-15. Both will fit up to a 28mm tyre, but your frame may not. 25mm tyres are fine on practically all frames.
