I have a set of their K1 wheels (Reviewed and discussed here).
Quick version is I have ridden them long and hard in all weathers from sunny and hot, to 4 inches of ice on the ground in sub zero temps and they are simply amazing.
Need a little more?
I looked good and hard for a set of wheels in their price range that stack up as well as the K1's do and nothing came close, I'm not interested in shaving a tiny fraction of weight off every bit of kit and paying a massive premium for the displeasure when I can go for a good dump before a ride and save myself a few grand, and as training wheels go (that's all I use them for currently) they are bombproof and worth every penny I paid for them.
Lastly, I CANNOT speak highly enough of the service Kinetic-One offer and give, while some may cry out some wheels from China may be better and cheaper??? I'd rather get my wheels or whatever else from someone in the UK who I know in a push or if an issue arises can deal with it inside of a few days and they will.
Any questions about them and their gear, drop Andy at Kinetic-One an E-Mail via their web site contact system and he will be more than happy to talk to you about what ever your needs are.
Hope that helps?0 -
Contrary opinion - too heavy and over-priced. 2kgs for a pair of wheels is ridiculous - these aren't 'race' wheels but 'slow' wheels.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

They are anything but slow, and I compare that from riding them directly after riding some Easton's that cost more than the price I paid for the K1's. I got my K1's when they were slightly cheaper than they currently are at the moment (they do get special offers at certain times), but even still they were still a good £50 cheaper.
For a "Road beginner" these are good training wheels, which I am guessing by where this was posted is what the OP is after, not hard core weight weenie wheels.0 -
Just down the road from me, bent over to acommodate me recently and a set of new K1's are on order for me! 8)0

Expensive and heavy training wheels. You can get durable training wheels that weight 500g less than those for less money. Its a no-brainer really....More problems but still living....0 -

Sorry blade8 for hijacking your thread.
One Man And His Bike, I liked your review and your blog..cheers
I am thinking about going for 2011 K1's
According to the website, these should be ideal for me as I am looking for an all round wheel for commuting, long runs (not fast, just distance) and a supported LEJOG
I am just under 200 pounds although weight coming down with the more cycle commuting that I am doing 8)
Is their a weight limit for these wheels, as I am getting rid of my Shimano RS10 due to some poor reviews?
I take it these are a good step up from RS10's?
Thanks again

Thanks, nice to know someone reads it.
I started riding the K1's when I was about 15 stone or so, and they took my weight easy enough. Ask Andy at Kinetic-One for a specific weight limit as I wouldn't like to say.
Good luck witht he riding and weight loss, hope it is as much fun for you as it is for me. =]
As for the whole "Expensive and heavy training wheels" in the grand scheme of things I don't think they are for what the K1's are, nothing else I saw at the time I bought them came close to what they have on offer in their price range. Especially for the heavier rider like I was at the time when anything you would consider light and uber comes with the warning "Sorry, these are not for big riders don't look at us" & trust me I looked long and hard. These are deeper sectioned rims with bladed spokes and good looking, hard wearing wheels, for the price they offer fantastic value for money.
You keep saying there is better for less and lighter, how about linking them so people know what you are on about so they can look and judge for themselves perhaps?0 -
thanks this is all good to hear though weight for me is not a problem, just looking good value for money wheels , iv shimano rs 20s but near every time im out in have to get them trued,, so what wieght are the k1 or have i missed that some were , if so sorry..0
