Hello, just joined, need some advice. I had my back wheel stolen off my Boardman MTB. Im hoping sombody could give me some help in chosing some replacement bits for my bike.
.
The wheel that was stolen was a Ritchey OCR disc... with all the bits etc

I have been looking at the following components..
I still have my SRAM X-9 rear derailer

Avid Elixir 160 mm Brake Disc
Sram PG970 or PG980 (9 cog) gearing cassette. (is it better to get 32 or 34, i do alot of fast flat riding, road)

I am having problems finding a complete wheel. I only seem to be able to find rims without spokes or hub on the web. Any ideas as to where i can find complete wheels. I did have a ritchey OCR disc wheel,,, any good suggestions for a replacement wheel. Any help suggestions would be fantastic,

I have spent the last three days looking at components and cant decide what i need to get my bike back on the road. I do need some advice,,

many thanks

emily

Try Merlin cycles, loads of custom options. Or superstar. Mavic 717 is a similar level rim. XT hub or superstar Tech Evo a good choice. Double butted spokes.

34t is good for long steep climbs.

If going to Merlin, don't forget to join their VIP club - you get 10% off.

Also look at Chain Reaction and Wiggle wheels - you should find something in your budget.

Stating the obvious but your replacement wheel needs to be disc specific i.e. can be fitted with a disc and with freehub that can take a cassette.

For cassette, 9 speed Shimano and 9 speed SRAM will work.
For disc, buy same diameter as what was on previoulsy, most likely to be 160 mm.

Discs come in 2 flavours - 6 bolts or splined (how they are fixed to the hub); I would suggest that you buy same type of disc fitting so this then narrows down your hub choice.

It is usually best to do so, yes, ie a 9 speed. SRAM PC951 or 971 are good offerings.

hi & sorry to hear of your loss.

I'd scan the classifieds on here & Single Track World & buy a used one. They come up from time to time & you may be lucky & get a complete setup in 1 go.

I just bought a wheel, cassette & rotor - it took some time to get them but at c 100 GBP all in is well below what any trader would charge you new.

It sort of softens the blow of the theft too.

    Good luck

Depends on what it is: a rear wheel, cassette and rotor can be had new for comfortably less than £100
