When going up a steep hill,i caught up with a mate and as i turned my front wheel to the right rather than clip him i came off at slow speed. The derailler was bent back so i aligned it as best i could to carry on.Since then the gear change in my lowest (easiest ) gear is aweful whether i am going uphill from 3rd 2nd or first or changing the other way when i get to the top of steep hills. It looks like there is too much travel when i change gear and it moves in between gears if this makes sense.
There is no problem on the flat as when i am in the big front chainring i dont use those gears anyway.
I am a complete novice but am willing to have a go at adjusting the rear mech is this advisable? I have only just had the bike seviced at the six week service befor e i came off, would this be a job for a novice or should i pay to have it done?
thanks,
Tony.

    Youve probably bent something,

    the hanger? Easy to replace

    The frame?

Adjusting is easy, just search youtube for links...
