hi,

I want to service and maybe renew the bottom bracket on my Madone. Although I am nit sure where to start with the removal of the old.

I understand it's a integrated BB90 though.

Thanks in advance

Normally you need crank removal tool and bottom bracket removal tool.

What's BB90? New version of BB30? Wish they stop changing the blooming standards. you have to buy tons of different tools, campag, shimano, sram, bb30, and now bb90
    Say... That's a nice bike..

Dont know how new it is, and if it actually replaces a BB30 as it has been out for a couple of years I think.

Horrible system, which does not use threads... it means you need a removal tool and a press to fit it... the press can be built with a long screw, and a couple of wood/plastic plates... as for the removal tool, you can try if the one for headset fits, otherwise you'll have to get one... I wouldn't recommend forcing the cups out with a screwdriver the way one would do for headset cups in a steel frame

Removing the cups is actually not such a dificult job. There is a 24mm hole through which you can put a decent sized bar (I used an old 1/2" drive extension). Don't use a screwdriver unless you want some gouges in the BB shell....
The cups came out with a couple of taps using plastic mallet on the extension bar.
Fitting new cups with a piece of threaded rod, a couple of nuts and washers was just as simple.
Is it just me, but I like this system??

BB90 is actually quite sensible - it's BB30 which is a complete abomination. Anything that uses aluminium alloy for transmitting torque is smoking something and since when did we need a narrower Q-factor, particularly on cross bikes and MTBs.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
