I remember one from Thierry Marie. It was stage 6 of the 1991 tour de france, but my googling powers have let me down. From memory he was away solo for 200+ kms and for some reason this denied Sean Kelly the yellow jersey. (I think the yellow jersey of the day couldn't start due to injury). As an impressionable young Kelly fan this one stuck in the memory.0 -
Agreed with the comments from Kelly as well.
Just a thought about Leopards pull out, do we think this will impact the racing in anyway?0 -
Great insight guys, thanks. 8)0

Probably not. They were looked like a team that was just looking to get in the occasional breakaway. The departure of Farrar will probably have more impact with Garmin unlikely to join in closing down breaks.Twitter: @RichN950 -

1993 (ha, ha I'm looking at the official history as I check my memory)
That Johan Bruyneel rode solo and recorded the fastest stage win into Amiens with a South West wind behind himOrganiser, National Championship 50 mile Time Trial 19720 -
terrible events buit i hope we see some aggressive riding as riders celebrate whats great about the sport and tunr this potentially terrible Giro into a celebration of all thats good.
This sport is tough and epic parcours like this year make it compelling0 -
Millar and Vicioso taking the fight for the pink jersey a bit too literally there...0
-

Weird crash though. Why didn't Millar change direction? The road was huge.0 -

Certainly one of the more unusual ones. Millar got 2 seconds for his cuts and bruises!"Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -
Agree with the 60-40 against Vicioso comments......the crowd were spilling onto the road on the left though, which is perhaps why Millar didn't move over.0

Which is more than Iain will get, with his 1TB Sky+ Box.
UK Eurosport HD were due to start 45 minutes ago, but the girlie tennis (which has less than 50 blokes watching in the stands) has just started a new, third set.

Crash by the lanterne rouge, Chris Butler. He's OK.0

Kohler still looking good, Butler not so clever. He's fine, though.
Richie P as well, then?
I know it's on ES 2, but it's no help if you are recording HD.
Cos HD finally arrives, we have to have a re-cap. :x"Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -
this works for me http://videochat.gazzetta.it/index_giro.shtml
On the subject of breakaways. Henrich Haussler won after being in a break for almost 200km in Le Tour 2009. Started off as a 3-man break and then he rode the last 60k on his own.0 -
Strade Bianci coming up! 44 km to go.....6:41 for kohler!0
-
ooh mass pile up now! Reminds me of the early stages of the Tour last year!0
-
Wow this looks mental..........Kohler grinding up the hills sat in the saddle-way under geared.....
Popovych flying breaking away from the bunch.
Kohler must be doing less than 10 mph!0 -
kohler struggling on the dirt climb...0
