Proably totally thick, but I am looking at upgrading my Litespeed, and my new frame has a BB30 bottom bracket. I have a 2010 Dura-ace chainset with "standard" BB. The retailer says the only way is to "cold fit" an adapter shell, but says they are unsure about removing this in the future.

Can I not just but a BB30 bottom bracket and fit my "standard" Dura-Ace chainset? Or is the axle larger?

I've a BB30 Tarmac frame fitted with D-A 7900. I've used a KCNC BB30 Adapter. It's a "standard" bottom bracket that fits in a BB30 frame. Easy to fit yourself.

I think this is what you need to be able to use your current setup in a BB30 frame...

So, you install a BB30 bottom bracket and then install these shims so that you can use your existing (non BB30) chainset with it.

Sorry if I'm sounding a bit unsure. I've got a BB30 frameset, but I put a SRAM Red BB30 chainset on it.

both of the above methods will work

of the two, i'd probably go for the adaptor approach rather than bearings+shims as there are fewer interfaces
