Hi

So I'm sourcing bits for my ideal 1x8 mtb that I'm putting together on the cheap, but I'm stuck on the crank/chainring. I've googled to death looking for an inexpensive square taper[1] crank (160mm) that I can bolt a single chainring to. Choice of chainring required, as I haven't picked a size yet. Any ideas?

[1] Shimano

Cheers
John

Well, to answer my own question, I found some 165mm cranks at Spa cycles for £20, plus a tenner for a Stronglight chainring. They are advertised as "our own touring cranks based on the classic Sugino XD2", but oddly they have the Sugino crown on the back.

They seem very solid - I doubt I'll bend them!
