Senior moment of the day, I bought 11-28T instead of 11-27T.

Any idea if it will work ? Shimano website says no officially.

I don't want to take it out the box and fiddle with it if I don have to.

Thanks for any help you can give.

It should do. If you are careful with chain length(not too short) you can fiddle with the B screw to get enough clearance. 99% of the time it works ok.

Thats what i've fitted to my Mavic Aksiums, and it works no problem now i've got my cassette spaced out properly and gears indexed.

Yes - just swapped mine for a hilly sportive.

Took a bit of fiddling with the B screw as previously mentioned, as top jockey wheel was clashing otherwise.

it depends on the dropout length.

I've had some frames where it has been fine and some where the top jockey rubs, even with the b-screw on full tension and a short chain. As said, it's usually okay but there are no guarantees...

as the following comment tries to communicate...

Have a look on Sheldon Brown. I know their front chainsets are designed for a 16 tooth variation I.e 50/34 in compact. Not sure about the rear. I run an 34/11 on my tourer on the old nine speed 5500 and the mech 9 (YES IT IS A LONG CAGE) never sits at 90 degrees to the axle seems to have a load more range.

Picked up the mech NOS from SJS ( its a 105 ) for £ 16.95 if that gives you a cheaper soloution to changing the cassette and retaining the range of gears you want.
