Hello
Built a bike from a Defy frame I bought on ebay to use as winter/commute bike. Really need some mudguards as some of the roads I use to get to work are not the cleanest especially when wet.
Any suggestoins on a set of mudguards that fit a Defy which has tight frame clearance?
I've tried the crud catcher but it's too tight at the rear  (no jokes please!).
I've fitted 25mm tyres which restrict clearance a bit. I would prefer one that goes completely around the wheel and doesn't stop at the brake caliper if possible.
Thanks

I think you can get mudguards specificly for a Defy.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

get some Raceblades, you can adjust them to fit with really tight clearance and they're really easy to fit.

I put crud catchers mk2 on my Giant Defy 3 winter bike. Initially I installed them with 25s and experienced a little rubbing. I changed to 23s and all was fine.

As said, there are some specially made for the Defy and Avails: http://www.pedalon.co.uk/acatalog/giant ... nder_.html

Get these or the Crud mark II.

Same here. I also tried the Defy specific mudguards and couldn't get on with them.

I tried the defy specific and found they would only fit with 23's.This was also the case with crud road racer mk1 and mk2's.In the end I switched to 23's and use the crud road racers which give better coverage as the defy specific hace a cut out to enable them to fit under the brakes.

Thanks for all the comments, I bought some Defy specific guards from my LBS called road fenders.
Managed to get them to fit with 25s on but not without some faffing. The problem is the loop that fits to the brake caliper bolt. It catches the the caliper which pushes it against the tyre. So had to do some filing.

Other than that it's really good, cos of the 4 point attachment it's really stiff and secure.

    Thanks again.
