Hi All
I'm a rodie thinking of purchasing his first mountain bike and I like the look of the Cube Reaction or Cube LTD hardtails. My question is which size should I go for? I am 5' 10" tall and my road bikes have 54cm top tubes c-c? I think I will need either a 16" or 18"?
Any advice would be welcomed.

No real way of telling until you try the bike. MTB geometry is massively varied between brands and models, and what you are on a road bike has little bearing. Even two bikes listed at '18' can be measured differently, and easily 3 inches difference in the top tube.
I'd recommend visiting a dealer and trying them.0 -
You are right of course, I should go to a bike shop and try them out, which I will probbaly do to be safe.
I also found this thread which is asking the same question. I should have done a search first before posting a thread.

im 5'10 also, i asked the same question a couple of weeks ago.
then went to leisure lakes to sit on one (not ride)
they only had the 18" and that was suprisingly small.
a 16" would be crazy small.
i would possibly even consider a 20"0 -
Thanks Homerjay, that is worth knowing. I was edging more towards the 18".

I'm 5' 8" and a bit and I've been riding a 18" Cube Ltd Race for over 2 years and it fits me perfectly. The 16" would be way too small for you methinks.2009 Cube Race Ltd
