The best specced bike for your budget, nothing else in this price is going to touch this.

Is a newbie always served best 2nd hand? I am not too sure. Sometimes the shop support, backup, advice and warranty is worth it.

With a 5 Year Warranty on the Frame and a 2 Year Warranty on the Forks it always seems to me as though they are giving these bikes away, try and have a look at other branded bikes which have a similar spec and they will cost at least £100 more. I'm still undecided whether I should change my original decision to stick with the GT Avalanche Expert, save myself a few quid and give Decathlon £500 and run out of the store very quickly grinning from ear to ear. You'd be mad not to, and it just goes to show how much these Push Irons have risen in price and the quality of components have dropped over the past couple of years. I bought my Saracen Trace 1 2 years ago for £260 brand new and it was an 08 model and it's still as good as most bikes in the £500-£600 price range.

I'm in the same situation as you mate, I was going to get a Giant or a Trek, but after going to Decathlon and seeing the 8.1 2010, I just couldn't turn down such a bargain, I did end up ordering the 2011 version though, which was £50 more but well worth it.

Just go to their main website and browse from there, enter your postcode and it will display the current bikes that they have in your local stores.

  • Cheers for the Liam. No stock anywhere near me. But may ring the sheffield shop and ask if they can order it for me.

    But first...

Stuck between the Rockrider 8.1 2011, Cube Attention 2011 & Carrera Fury 2011 now. ARGH!

So if lucky new Rockrider 8.1 2011 owner want to post some photos up it would be greatly appreciated. Along with your views on the bike :)
